When selling at auction, you can expect to pay fees. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect at First for Auctions.  

  • Entry fee: The entry fee covers the cost of marketing your property. At First for Auctions, we maximise the properties' exposure through traditional and digital marketing. This non-refundable fee covers expert marketing and listing on leading platforms.
  • Auctioneer’s commission: Commission is agreed at a percentage of the sale price plus VAT as agreed with the auctioneer. This fee is only payable if your property sells.  
  • Legal pack: At First for Auctions, we commission and pay for the searches to reduce delays. We then recover the cost from the eventual buyer, so there are no up-front costs for the seller.

The auction route was faultless as everyone involved in the process was extremely competent, experienced and easy to deal with. This made what for us was a very anxious first experience of auctions a very smooth sales process. The lower guide price attracted plenty of buyer interest highlighting the potential for buyers to add value and the final sale price received was significantly higher. There is no shortage of 3 bed vacant possession properties for sale in our area on the open market. From our property first being advertised to auction day was 4 weeks and we completed 6 weeks later. Our team included Alex (First for Auctions), Jo (Clifton Ingram solicitors) and George (Northwood Gibbs Gillespie estate agents). We would use them all again without hesitation.
